I don’t need Jordan, I’ve got own mega deals: Alex Reid

Posted by bollywoodcinemagallery on April 7, 2010

Cage fighter Alex Reid aims to prove he is financially sound and not dependent on wife Kate Price (Jordan) for big-money deals as he is in talks to have his own scent, clothes range and telly shows.

“I had meetings last week about possible deals that I am really excited about – one for a fight clothing brand and sport supplements,” dailystar.co.uk quoted Alex as saying.

“I am also talking about two new TV shows. Then I might do an aftershave range for Christmas – splash on a dab of the Reidinator, I say.”

His plans come a week before the launch of Bravo TV show “Alex Reid: The Fight of his Life”.

He is also preparing for a televised cage clash with Tom “Kong” Watson, 26, in May and the launch of his film “Killer Bitch”.

He admitted he is taking advice from Jordan but insisted she does not call the shots.

“The two big misconceptions about me are that I’m thick and my wife controls me,” Alex added.

“There are stories about Kate bossing Alex but she is just trying to help. Offers for Alex are now starting to come in so it is paying off,” said a source.

Shoaib Malik’s passport seized by police

Posted by bollywoodcinemagallery on April 6, 2010

Police on Monday seized former Pakistan cricket team captain Shoaib Malik’s passport in the case filed against him on his marriage with local girl Ayesha Siddiqui.

Earlier Malik had told the police that he had been tricked into marriage with local girl Ayesha Siddiqui when he was questioned by police in the wake of a complaint of cheating by her father against him.

A police team reached this morning the posh Jubilee Hill residence of 23-year-old tennis star Sania Mirza where Shoaib, 28, has been staying since his arrival here on Saturday following a complaint lodged by the father of Ayesha, Mohammed Siddiqui Sunday at the Banjara Hill police station.

In fresh trouble for Shoaib, who is scheduled to get married to Sania here on April 15, the Hyderabad Police have alerted the immigration authorities about the criminal complaint, a move that could pose difficulties for Shoaib to leave the country.

“We are trying to collect evidence. Shoaib is cooperating and Sania is supporting him. They say they know the truth behind the whole issue,” a police official said after the team talked to the cricketer for one-and-a-half hours. During questioning, Shoaib told the police that he had been “cheated” by the Siddiqui family and tricked into marriage, he said.

The Pakistani cricketer had yesterday claimed that he was emotionally forced into the ’nikahnama’ with the Hyderabad girl but said the marriage was invalid as her family had cheated him and ruled out divorce.

He said to this day he has not met the girl whose photographs were sent to him by the Siddiqui family purported to be that of Ayesha. The charges against Shoaib are that of harassment of Ayesha, cheating to marry another girl and criminal intimidation including threats to her to keep quiet, according to Hyderabad Police Commissioner A K Khan.

Michael Jackson administered drugs himself?

Posted by bollywoodcinemagallery on April 6, 2010

http://twitery.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/michael-jackson-younger.jpg

Late pop legend Michael Jackson administered his fatal drugs overdose himself, defence lawyers for his personal doctor, Conrad Murray who stands accused of his death, are set to claim.
The late singer died of acute intoxication by medical anaesthetic Propofol last June, and Murray faces trial for his murder.
Lawyers for the doctor who has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter are, however, set to claim it was the singer who administered the powerful drug, not Murray, reports TMZ.com
The defence team say that Murray administered a small dose of 25 mg of Propofol to the singer, then sat with him for an hour making calls.
He then went to use the bathroom, during which time Jackson, 50, awoke and was frustrated that he couldn’t sleep so he reached for the 20 millilitre bottle and administered it intravenously – a huge overdose which lead to his death.
The defence will then tell how Murray re-entered the room, and saw what had happened and immediately started trying to resuscitate the star.
The defence will also argue Jackson was a long time Propofol addict, and a key piece of evidence will be an empty bottle of the powerful drug.
“Los Angeles County Coroner’s investigators took a picture in the room, showing an empty Propofol bottle on the floor, underneath the nightstand by Jackson’s bed,” read the website.
“The defence will argue Jackson grabbed the bottle from the nightstand, injected himself and then dropped the bottle,” it further read.
Last week one of Jackson’s bodyguards, Alberto Alvarez, claimed Murray stopped CPR in order to hide bottles of Propofol.
The defence are expected to ask that if this is the case, then why did he not hide the bottle under the nightstand.
Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, said he is “horrified” by the claims, and that he doesn’t believe them.
“I don’t believe it. It’s not true. Why would he Murray hide all the bottles if such a story were true?” he said.
“The coroner’s report shows the story is not true. This really upsets me to hear this,” he added.
Murray’s lawyers have yet to comment. The doctor’s trial is expected to go ahead later this year.

Arjun Rampal Plays Bade Bhaiyya To Ranbir

Posted by bollywoodcinemagallery on April 6, 2010

https://i1.wp.com/www.bbc.co.uk/shropshire/content/images/2007/01/05/i_see_u_gallery_02_470x320.jpg

In Raajneeti Arjun Rampal is cast as Ranbir Kapoor’s zany flamboyant elder brother. The brotherly camaraderie spilt over from the screen, and the two guys were often seen indulging in brotherly activities on location in Bhopal including playing pranks on Katrina Kaif, though on screen they were required to be emotionally and geographically distanced from one another.
Chortles Arjun, “I don’t play the conventional Bade Bhaiyya. It’s the toughest role of my career. I had to be larger-than-life but not over-the-top. This man I play is whimsical, flamboyant and audacious. He can do anything. His kid-brother has gone abroad to study. My character has stayed back in India to create his own unpredictable world. He’s in own space, though not spaced out.” Arjun was guided by his director Prakash Jha in interpreting the character. “Rock On, which took my career to another level and got me a National award, was a dream role. I got to play a rock star! This man in Raajneeti is completely alien to me. He’s a man who does the unthinkable. Do I expect another National award? No performance can be tailored for recognition.”
Arjun will also be doing unthinkable things in Anubhav Sinha’s Ra.1, where he plays the arch-villain, the main antagonist opposite Shah Rukh Khan, though he isn’t allowed to talk about it. But before that there’s Housefull which Arjun says was a laugh riot. “But it also has very emotional moments. As a director Sajid Khan is so wonderfully clued in to what his actors can do. I worked with Farah and now her brother Sajid. Both were fun.”
Such was the joy of working with Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutt , Jiah Khan and the whole cast that Arjun has forgotten he injured his back during the shooting of Housefull.” It was yoga and physio-therapy that helped heal my back completely,” says Arjun Rampal. “I was working out at the gym when I suffered a massive slipped disc. I was required to lose considerable weight so as to not burden my back.”
On a more cheerful note, Arjun has lately been shooting with Kajol and Kareena Kapoor for Karan Johar’s adaptation of Stepmom. He says he enjoyed being sandwiched between two women who light up the screen. “While Kajol has always been my favourite actress Kareena is more a buddy. Kareena and I started our careers almost together, so we both bond as colleagues friends and fans of Kajol.” In Stepmom, Arjun stars as Kajol’s husband and kareena’s lover. “It’s wonderful to have two such gorgeous actresses as my co-stars. But honestly, today I’m confident enough to create my own space in a film.”

Will Abhijeet be a constant factor in Indian Idol 5?

Posted by bollywoodcinemagallery on April 6, 2010

Abhijeet Sawant

Indian Idol 5 is set to hit your TV screens soon. As always, the custodians of the show promise a bigger and better extravaganza. Well, big or better is a subjective matter.

The choice of Abhijeet Sawant and Prajakta Shukre as hosts does raise few brows. Alright, the former is the first Indian Idol while the latter was among the finalists, but that’s no criterion to be an Indian Idol host. Let’s not forget that the likes of Aman Verma, Hussain Kuwajerwala and Mini Mathur have taken Indian Idol to another level with their inimitable style of hosting. None of these names will figure this season.

Last year, season three contestants Meiyang Chang and Deepali Kishore were picked to host the audition round. When the countdown to the final 16 began, it was only Chang who co-hosted the show with Hussain. It was then buzzed that Deepali wasn’t up to the mark as host and thus she wasn’t picked for the real deal. This year, it’s poor Abhijeet who could suffer the same plight.

According to sources, Sawant has thus far been found wanting as host during the audition round and chances are that he might be replaced

A channel insider says, “Prajakta has impressed as host during the audition rounds. Thus she’s likely to host the whole season. The same cannot be said of Abhijeet Sawant. This time, the channel wants the best names from the singing world as judges and hosts. There’s a thought to have an established play back singer as the host. Thus you never know that Sawant might miss out.”

When contacted, Sawant wasn’t too perturbed at this dreaded prospect. He says, “Though, I have a contract to host the full season, there’s no guarantee that I’ll be the permanent host. Contracts in this industry don’t really count for too much. If they want me as host throughout the season, I’m ready to oblige. If not, then I’m pretty cool with it. The channel is free to take any call. We’ve finished the audition rounds. Thus far, I haven’t received any call about the next schedule”

One may not be so confident of the reticent Abhijeet’s anchoring skills, but as the original Indian Idol he deserves his place in Indian Idol 5.

“Paathshaala” director Milind Ukey is tired of people constantly comparing his film with Aamir Khan’s “Taare Zameen Par” and says he is highlighting macro issues of the “education system at large”.
“People are comparing ‘Paathshaala’ to ‘Taare Zameen Par’, but when they see the film they will realise both are very different,” Ukey told IANS in an interview.
” ‘Taare Zameen Par’ was about one child suffering from dyslexia and my film talks about the education system at large. Our issue and scope are bigger,” he added.
The Shahid Kapoor-starrer, choreographer-director Ahmad Khan’s debut production venture, is primarily about the Indian education system and deals with contemporary and socially relevant issues regarding children.
Ukey worked with child stars like Swini Khare from “Cheeni Kum”, Ali Haji from “Fanaa”, Dwij Yadav from “Nanhe Jaisalmer” and Avika Gor of “Balika Vadhu” fame apart from others.
Talking about his experience of working with children, Ukey said: “Handling almost 100 kids every day was not a cakewalk. Managing their mood swings, their study routines, etc., was difficult but at the same time once we knew how to communicate with them we were able to handle them better and it became a pleasurable experience.”
“Paathshaala”, which is slated to release April 16 and was completed in 36 days, also stars Ayesha Takia.
Most of the shooting took place at a set covering an area of 20,000 sq ft in Filmcity. It encompassed all the facilities that a school contains.
When asked about reports that Shahid just has a guest appearance in the movie, Ukey said: “Shahid is not making a guest appearance inthe film. I don’t know from where this rumour has surfaced. The film is narrated from his point of view and he is an integral part of the project.
“He is a wonderful person to work with. He is an intelligent and creative actor, who gets completely involved in the character he is playing, contributing that something extra to the character.”
So are stars important for a film even if the script is strong?
“I feel a star’s presence is important for a film; otherwise an important subject like this too gets lost. Stars help in getting the opening for the film and get the film people’s attention.”
After “Paathshaala”, Ukey is now working on the script of a film he is planning to make on the third war of Panipat.
“My next project will be a film of the third war of Panipat, which was one of the fiercest wars that ever took place. Once I’m done with the scripting, I’ll start working on the other aspects of the film, including the casting,” said the director, who earlier made forgettable movies like “Humne Jeena Seekh Liya” (2007).
