I gel well with mature actors – Padmapriya

Darling of the Malayalam filmgoers, Padmapriya, Sunday said she gels well with mature actors like Mammootty and Mohanlal.

“I feel they are more mature and it is the directors who decide the cast when it comes to a film and I have no problem acting with superstars,” said Padmapriya while interacting with reporters here, after her latest Malayalam film “Yes Your Honour” was screened.

Padmapriya, in her early twenties, has played the lead opposite to ageing superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal, who are more than twice her age.

“Pierce Brosnan played the role of James Bond first when he was 51. Age does not matter and it is the character that is important and it is the same everywhere,” said Padmapriya whose latest film is opposite versatile Malayalam actor Sreenivasan who is also above 50.

She broke into Malayalam films
starring opposite Mammootty in the mega-hit film “Kazhcha” and since then Mammootty considers Padmapriya as his “lucky charm”.

She has also acted alongside Mohanlal in the film “Vadukumnathan”.

“Don’t worry, my next film is with Prthiviraj, a young Kerala actor,” said the actress.

Mammootty’s Melody turns bitter

You may wonder how melody would turn bitter but this is what is happening in Mammootty’s life. Well, the Film Producers association has issued a show cause notice to the superstar for appearing in a music programme of a popular Television channel called Melody during the Ramadan season.

The appearance is against the agreement between the actors’ association and producers association that doesn’t allow film stars to appear in TV programmes. Earlier, Jagadheesh was banned from shooting films for appearing in a stage show in UAE while actors like Kavya Madhavan who appeared with him were left untouched. There is loophole in this treaty, as actors like Mukesh, Jagdheesh, Siddhique or Nedumudi Venu are currently hosting one TV programme or the other.

Now, the question is why Mammootty has been singled out while there are several actors getting involved in such programmes. This is a million dollar question!

Mani with Mohanlal one more time

People would think that Kalabhavan Mani and Mohanlal would never appear together again following their past clash: forgetting that good actors are never short of surprises. After acting together in ‘Natturajavu’ a few years ago, the duo is sharing screen space yet again in a new film titled ‘Chotta Mumbai’.

It looked like the duo would not see into each other’s eyes when the state awards for the year 1999 were announced. Mani’s ‘Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njanum’ was pitched against Mohanlal’s ‘Vaanaprastham’. Many thought that the best actor award would go to Mani. But when that didn’t happened, people assumed that the two actors were not in good terms with each other.

However, the duo ended the rumors and speculations by acting together in ‘Baletten’. Showing great professional spirit, they are acting together again in ‘Chotta Mumbai’. Expectations are sure to tough the skies and comparison of their performance is sure to happen.

Aishwarya returns to Malluwood

Yesteryear heroine Aishwarya who was part of several hit films from ‘Butterflies’ to ‘Narasimham’ is returning to Malluwood after a short hiatus. She is going to play a vital role in Dileep’s new film ‘Inspector Garud’, produced by Milan Jaleel and directed by Johny Antony.

She is going to play the role of the district collector in this film. It has Kavya Madhavan in the female lead role and Sibi K Thomas – Udaykrishna have written the script. It is expected to go to the floors very soon
